PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Thursday, October 1 and Tuesday, October 6 are Parent Teacher Conference dates for Prescott. It is time now to schedule a conference for your child. Sign- up sheets are set up in the front hallway for you to schedule your conference time. If you are unable to stop by to sign up, teachers will be sending home time options they have available. Confirmation notes will be sent home with students on September 18. Please come to school and sign up!

This first quarter conference is an opportunity to gain information about your child’s progress in school. Keeping informed about your child’s progress in school is important for several reasons. The most important reason is so your child knows you care and that you think what they do in school is important. Secondly, it is a way to advocate for your child, whether they are doing well or needing extra help. Keeping informed allows you to communicate both with your child and their teacher to make sure your child is making progress and is doing the best they can as well as meeting their potential. Thank you for your participation in conferences.

Free & Reduced Lunch Program Deadline

If your family received free or reduced priced lunches last year, you need to file a new application for this school year. The cut-off date for previously qualified families on the free/reduced meal program is Wednesday, September 30, 2009. Beginning Thursday, October 1, any family who does not have a current free or reduced meal application on file, will no longer be on free or reduced meal status and will need to pay full price for any lunches your

child may eat at school. Any family that thinks they will qualify for free or reduced lunch can file an application. Application forms were included in the summer mailing sent to families in August. Application forms are also available in the Prescott school office.

WHERE DO WE GO IN THE MORNING IN BAD WEATHER?

On rainy, snowy and extremely cold days students will wait in the school gymnasium rather than outside at their assigned door. Children should enter the gym through door #6, which is just north of the equipment on the playground. If you are dropping off your child on a day with bad weather, please drop them off near the playground rather than at the front of the building.
